The folk behind Beanscene said, "The Indian Summer weekender shares the same ethos as Beanscene - after all, Beanscene is a state of mind, somewhere to kick back, relax and take life in on its most simple and enjoyable level - so bringing the two together makes perfect sense." Get practising. Last year...Thanks to everyone who attended, and a special thanks to BBC 6 Music and BBC Radio Scotland who both broadcast fantastic programmes about the very first Indian Summer. Last year's bill crafted these bands into a veritable musical feast. 1990's, Aidan Moffat, Amp Fiddler, Antony and the Johnsons, Ben Kweller, Bill Brewster, Butch Cassidy Sound System, Camera Obscura, CSS, Danananakroyd, Errors, Gang of Four , Guillemots, Hot Chip, Jack L, Maurice Fulton, Melting Pot, Moodymann, Mr Scruf, My Latest Novel, Optimo (Espacio), Paul Cawley, Pigeon Detectives, Scissors For Lefty, Soul Jazz Soundsystem, The Fall, The Royal We, Tapes 'n' Tapes, Tilly and the Wall, Unkle Bob, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Yo La Tengo. Phew! Here's what the press said:"Less a weekend odyssey than a couple of days out in the fresh air with some great music" The Herald "The people behind Indian Summer have gone against the grain to create a true alternative to the increasingly bloated festival hegemony." The Scotsman "One of the best line-ups of the summer" Sunday Times "Everyone with more than two bands and a beer keg is branded a festival these days. We don't need another one, right? Wrong. This may sound like a familiar claim but Indian Summer is genuinely different. It's about time Glasgow played host to a music event that truly reflected its creative sensibilities." The List "Glasgow has been crying out for an event of this calibre for years." Evening Times Thanks x |
