Back triumphant for a second year, the Indian Summer weekender is again to be set in Victoria Park in Glasgow's leafy west end. This year it will be taking place on the weekend of the 14th and 15th of July. It's uniqueness comes from it being an intimate event, so expect a different kind of outdoor experience. You see, keeping everything deliberately smaller allows a more adventurous approach to programming across all stages (akin to the mix tapes made for friends), a greater attention to the details, to comfort, to creating an picnic atmosphere more in tune with the club show than the enormodrome. Although the details of this year will remain under wraps for now what we can tell you is that the site will include at least three venues. Keep checking the news page for more details. Alongside the music expect to find concessions with an emphasis on quality and comfort, café's, record stalls, a market, and somewhere to sit down and relax with friends in a pleasant environment between bands. Indian Summer will be be brought to you in association with our music-loving allies BBC 6 Music, who will again be broadcasting live from the site. BBC Radio Scotland will also be recording the event for your post-weekend listening pleasure. Having read all the comments on message boards and forums from all the happy people that came last year, we hope that you'll enjoy this year even more. Keep those comments coming on our MySpace page (http://www.myspace.com/indian_summer_glasgow), we read all your suggestions, and after all, it's your weekend as much as it is ours. How to get to the event?Victoria Park was named for Queen Victoria’s golden jubilee in 1886 and is considered to be Glasgow’s prettiest park, although due to it being hidden in a quiet residential area it was only 'discovered' by many long-time westenders last September at the first Indian Summer. The leafy park boasts a bowling green, a swan inhabited pond with two small islands, a fossil grove and an extensive range of pretty floral displays.
Pedestrians/Cyclists?Directions from Partick (Dumbarton Road heading west): walk/cycle west along Dumbarton Road and at Whiteinch Cross, turn right into Inchlee Road and then right onto Victoria Park Drive South, then right through the underpass (under the expressway) and you will arrive in Victoria Park and at the event! Please note that we are keen to stay green and we also aim to organise secure bicycle parking near the park.Driving? Please use public transport where possible. Please note that there is NO PARKING available at the venue, nor on Victoria Park Drive North. Public parking may be available on showdays, please check here nearer the event for more details.Public Transport?Normal Saturday and Sunday service will operate on buses, trains and the subway. Taking the underground to Partick and then walking is probably the easiest public transport route. For buses; from the city centre take either a number 62 or number 9 bus from Hope Street (every 5mins) to Dumbarton Road and you are pretty much there!Taxis?Glasgow TOA (Hackney): 0141 429 7070Private Hire: 0141 339 0339 west end private cab company Essential infoWhat to bring?Your tickets. Proof of age. A hat & sunscreen. Rainwear.
